Ligue 1’s financial crisis continues, with the provisional relegation of Olympique Lyonnais further proof that even the biggest French clubs are not immune from the economic issues gripping the game.

The problems have been on the horizon since the collapse of the Mediapro deal in 2020, and six-time champions Bordeaux have already been reduced to little more than an amateur outfit due to double administrative relegation in the summer.
