Despite winning back-to-back Champions League titles, Paris Saint-Germain will look to improve its squad during the summer transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain might not have been at their blistering best, but as the club season finally winds down, Luis Enrique has further written his side’s legend by becoming just the third team since 1980 to defend the European Cup.
There was not the same panache and flair on show against Arsenal FC as Les Parisiens had displayed 12 months earlier in sweeping Inter Milan aside 5-0, but other qualities were to the fore: resilience, persistence, and mental fortitude.
Following that win over Inter, PSG elected for a comparatively quiet summer. Little over €100 million was spent on Ilya Zabarnyi and Lucas Chevalier, with Dro Fernández subsequently arriving in January.
Luis Enrique found internal solutions in his squad to apparent problems. Warren Zaïre-Emery thrived as a right-back, Senny Mayulu plugged a hole on the left at times, and Lucas Beraldo was perhaps most surprising of all as he slotted into the midfield and excelled. Quentin Ndjantou, meanwhile, became the latest Titi to shine in the first team before a season-ending injury.
