✍️ Ligue 3: France's New Professional League With an Outsized Influence
Ligue 3 is not simply meant to be a sideshow to benefit France’s smaller clubs; there’s a plan to strengthen the foundation of football across the country.
A revolution is coming to French football this summer in the form of Ligue 3.
While the advent of a third tier of fully professional football in the country has not yet made waves internationally, this new league has the potential to become more than just a sideshow curiosity.
Its formation has been driven by the French Football Federation (FFF), which is set to fund the venture to the tune of €11 million per year. The major goals are threefold: raise professional standards down the ladder, increase interest in the game, and provide another level of foundation to help young players thrive.
With plans to start the league as early as this coming August, the proposal is being fast-tracked into reality.
