Let’s get one thing straight before we start: Joan Laporta is full of shit.

The role of Barcelona's president is as much about politics as football, and to this end, Laporta is an ace operator. He knows what his audience wants, and he gives it to them.

While there are detractors out there, the Barca supremo has everyone that matters eating out of his hand. He might not be the ideal candidate to see the Catalans weather their economic storm, but he certainly gives the impression he is by trundling out a stream of promises and making statements that go unchallenged.

And often, on the wrong end of the Barcelona boss’s ire is Paris Saint-Germain.

So when the Blaugrana establishment claims that the Ligue 1 side has launched a €250 million bid for Lamine Yamal, treat what’s said with more than a pinch of salt. The Catalan press certainly won’t.
